CANON: Xena: Warrior Princess

APPEARANCE: Reference image
CANON HISTORY: Gabriella @ Hercules & Xena: The Legendary Wiki
CANON PERSONALITY:
Before she began travelling with Xena, Gabrielle was an idealistic and very innocent girl - in fact, her innocence led to her being targeted several times by those who wished to corrupt her. Over the next couple of years, however, hardships caused her to grow up and change quite a bit, though she was always guided by her strong moral compass and, despite some of the more painful moments, never lost her capacity to care or her overall optimism and curiosity about the world.
Gabrielle purposefully avoids killing; in fact, she prefers to avoid fighting at all if possible, seeking to talk through things instead. She knows how dangerous the cycle of violence can be and tries to avoid it and was even able to overcome her desire for vengeance against Callisto when Perdicus was killed.
Despite growing up in a fairly small village, Gabrielle always had big dreams. She always loved stories, and so dreamt of becoming a famous bard and go out and see the world. When Xena arrived at the village, she saw her chance and she took it and, by doing so, found herself experiencing things beyond even her wildest dreams.
Gabrielle is very intelligent and resourceful, able to talk her way out of many problems or otherwise find a solution. She does however sometimes have trouble when logic fails it, such as when she cannot accept that she is pregnant, due to its cause being mystical in nature.
Gabrielle is incredibly loyal to those that she loves, especially Xena. However, if she is put in a position where she has to choose between her loyalty and what she thinks is right, she trusts her own heart. This can cause conflict between her and Xena, such as when Gabrielle lied to save the life of her daughter, Hope.
Gabrielle is very caring and sensitive, quick to trust despite the times she has been betrayed. This also causes her to feel grief deeply. The despair she felt after the death of her husband, and after being forced to poison hope, led her to the brink of suicide. Guilt also hits her hard, as she takes responsibility for her actions very seriously, even when she does stand by them.
Despite her dreams and ambition, there is part of Gabrielle that longs for a normal life. It is why she decided to get married and why she fought so hard to protect Hope, and why her failure to keep her daughter from serving evil hurt her so much.

ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE: Gabrielle @ the TDM
PROSE SAMPLE: [Set before the Sacrifice episode]
If asked, Gabrielle would claim that she told Xena everything, but she would know that it was a lie. There wasn't much that she didn't tell her best friend, her soulmate ... but there were some things that she did keep to herself. And most of them had to do with one thing.
Hope.
After what had happened with Solan, Gabrielle knew that her daughter was lost to darkness forever. And so, while it had broken her heart, she had done what she needed to. She didn't doubt that, couldn't doubt that.
But she did doubt everything before then. What if she had fought harder to keep Hope with her? Would a mother's love have been enough to make the difference, to help her fight against the evil inside? Or was Xena right, had she never really been anything more than a vessel. Gabrielle knew she would never be know for certain.
But that didn't stop her from dreaming, and in those dreams, her daughter was at her side, smiling and laughing and living. And yes, sometimes Hope would do things that were wrong, just the same as any other child - or adult, for that matter. But Gabrielle would explain why it was wrong and know that it would not happen again.
These dreams were lovely when she was having them but when she woke, sometimes it felt like it was all happening again. And then Gabrielle would get up, slip away quietly, and weep.
But she could never tell Xena this. It would only hurt them both. And so she kept quiet and prayed that one day, the dreams, like her memory of Hope's face, would fade.
